LibraryThing catalog of books being ordered:  kday_working

 

This is still a work in progress as ordering will be ongoing.  For some authors, I've put a tag "more by author" or "more in series" to prompt me to go back and add more books.

 

Notes on subject tags used in the kday_working catalog -- click on any of the tags below to see the list of books for that subject:

 

  • books are either "fiction" or "nonfiction";
  • within "fiction", books should be either "picture book", "easy reader", "lp" for lower primary, or "up" for upper primary;
  • folk tales and mythology are in "nonfiction" and "398.2" (the standard Dewey assignment);
  • some units of inquiry have a particular tag,e.g.,
    • "environment" stands for Grade 4's unit "Think Global, Act Local";
    • "emotions" is for the K1 unit "Watch Me";
    • "me myself i" is for the K1 unit "Me, Myself, I", a unit related to Grade 4's "Identity" (for which I don't have a specific tag yet);
    • "work and play" is for the Grade 1 unit "Work and Leisure";
    • "explorers" is for the Grade 2 unit "Into the Unknown";
    • "economics" is for the Grade 4 unit "Goods and Services";
    • "food" is for the Grade 2 unit "From Field to Table";
    • "celebrations" is for the Grade 1 unit "Let's Celebrate" (which covers religions)
    • "animals" is for K2's unit "Feathers, Fins and Fur" as well as Grade 1's unit "Extinction"
    • "human body" is for Grade 1's unit "My Body" as well as Grade 4's unit "All Systems Go" and Grade 2's unit "Healthy Lifestyles" (although "healthy lifestyles" is also a tag);
    • "senses" is for the K2 unit on "Senses" as well as the human body units;
    • "plants" is for Grade 2's unit "Lungs of the Earth", as well as K1's unit "Caring for Living Things";
    • "water" is for Grade 3's unit "Blue Planet" and K1's unit "Splish Splash Splosh";
    • "electricity" is for Grade 3's unit "It's Shocking";
    • "forces" and "magnetism" are for Grade 2's unit "May the Force Be With You"
    • "countries" and "cultures" are for Grade 4's unit "Location, Location" as well as the K2 unit "Our World";
    • "transport" and "maps" are for Grade 3's unit "On the Move";
    • "aztecs" as well as "ancient civilizations" are for Grade 3's unit "What Have They Done for Us?";
    • "superstory" is for the K2 unit "Super Stories";
    • "media" is for the Grade 3 unit "Media Mania";
    • "safety" is for the Grade 3 unit "Is It Safe?";
    • "communication" (an incomplete list) is for the Grade 1 unit "Communication";
    • "materials" is for the K2 unit "Magic Materials";
    • "landmarks" (a fledgling list) is for the Grade 1 unit "Landmarks";
    • "working together" (an incomplete list) is for the K1 unit "Working Together";
    • "art", "artists", "composers", "music", "arts and crafts", and "drama" all relate to the Grade 2 "Arts Alive" unit, as well as Grade 4's "My Nature" unit;
